About Us

A Mixed Boarding Secondary School

At Araceli Aid Foundation Academy, we’re committed to nurturing young minds and empowering future leaders through quality education and holistic development. Our academy provides a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, innovate, and excel.

Teaching and learning

At AAFA, teaching and learning are our major priorities. We strategically ensure that every student learns from every activity they are engaged in.
Teaching and learning strategies include our morning assembly, where representatives from each class present a summary of the topics last presented on the subjects they have for the day. This helps us assess how effectively learners made use of their prep time the previous day. Students are supervised to allocate about 50 percent of their prep time to the subjects for the next day. Learning is individualized, as above-average students are encouraged to continue at their speed, while below-average students receive special attention in and outside the classroom.

AAFA, established two years ago, is gearing up for its first external examinations in the 2027/2028 academic session. With government approval and all necessary facilities in place, we’re preparing students for success.

Our internal examinations mirror external exam standards:

  • First-term exams: Set by subject teachers, marked by another teacher in the field
  • Second-term exams: Set by the Catholic Mission School examination body, marked by teachers
  • Third-term exams: Set by the state

Continuous Assessments (CAs) and exams are designed to meet external exam standards. We analyse feedback to identify students who need extra support, assigning them to prep sessions and informing parents for individualized learning.

AAFA’s ICT activities equip students with essential skills, starting with the basics. Students learn programming fundamentals like algorithms, flow charts, and basic programming languages. They explore graphics design using Microsoft Paint, create logos and flyers with Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, and also learn animation with Scratch.
As they progress, students dive into web development, mastering HTML, (HyperText Markup Language) CSS (Cascading Style Sheets), and JavaScript to build websites. They explore front-end and back-end development, and venture into advanced topics like web applications, Artificial Intelligence, and AI prompting.
With access to over 400 laptops with internet connections students apply theoretical and practical knowledge, exceeding curriculum standards. They also gain advanced skills in office packages and file handling with programming languages.

.

AAFA offers skill acquisition programs in 7 areas:

  • Barbing
  • Hair dressing & styling
  • Food and nutrition
  • Sewing
  • Music
  • Makeup & beauty
  • ICT

These programs equip students with practical skills for personal growth and career opportunities.
The program runs every Saturday, with experts training students in their chosen area. Students are assessed through practical and written exams every term, with feedback incorporated into end-of-term results.

Students stay in a skill area for two academic sessions before switching to another. The school plans for each student to graduate after six years, having acquired expertise in three skill areas 😊.
These programs equip students with practical skills for personal growth and career opportunities..
